Research Manager - Values Based Segmentations
Seeking an experienced, driven Research Manager to lead and execute mixed-methods research projects on climate, manage vendors, analyse qualitative and quantitative data, & deliver actionable insights
our common home is seeking an experienced, driven, and insightful Research Manager to lead and execute research projects and manage third party providers.
Location: Remote
Contract: Full-time M-F
Travel: Regular international
The Research Manager will be responsible for leading and executing a variety of research projects, from initial design through to data collection, analysis, and results presentation. This role requires expertise in both qualitative and quantitative social research methods, and an ability to extract actionable insights that drive decision-making. The successful candidate will be skilled at developing research projects that address practical aims, develop data collection tools, analyse qualitative and quantitative data, and translate research findings into compelling and actionable stories for diverse stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
Shape & align local research projects that inform OCH’s national strategies.
Research lead, oversee and execution:
Coordinate, manage and execute a variety of research projects from inception to results dissemination ensuring methodological rigor and practical relevance
Design and execute desk research, finding and reviewing publicly available studies and data to extract key insights, findings and stories
Design and review data collection tools, including complex questionnaires, interview guides, and focus group discussion guides.
Develop research tools, including complex questionnaires, interviews and discussion guides
Lead and assess suitability of sampling designs to address specific needs
Analyse both quantitative and qualitative data to uncover patterns, trends and actionable insights
Reporting and communication:
Synthesize complex research findings into clear, actionable insights and stories
Develop compelling data visualizations that effectively communicate complex findings.
Prepare high-quality reports and decks that present findings in a structured, insightful, and visually engaging manner.
Project management:
Oversee multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring the timely delivery of quality outputs within agreed-upon timelines.
Break down large research projects into smaller tasks and deliverables, managing both short-term and long-term deadlines.
Manage and mentor research and wider team members providing timely guidance and support as required
Project ownership and responsibility to ensure the project is managed in a timely and efficient manner
Foster collaboration and communication across team members and external partners and advisors during the implementation of research projects
Vendor management:
Identify and onboard suitable vendors across geographies
Developing comprehensive, accurate and actionable briefs for vendors
Negotiating and managing contract agreements with vendors
Coordinate and integrate the work of various vendors, and foster smooth collaboration and communication across teams and external providers.
Managing vendor relationships and collaborations throughout the project, including providing feedback, guidance and quality control
Ensure quality control and data checks during the implementation of research projects and local compliance with OCH standards
Travel - please note there will be international travel of approx 6 trips a year of 4-7 days each.
What you will bring:
Research Experience
A minimum of 6-8 years previous experience in market research or conducting social research in the fields of political and social psychology, and behavioural studies.
Experience with complex mixed methodologies/cross countries research projects will be preferred.
Previous experience managing multiple projects, working within deadlines, and balancing long-term and short-term priorities.
Experience working with external vendor partners.
Ability to identify practical needs of customers and partners and propose technical research solutions.
Technical and Analytical Skills
Proficiency in social quantitative research design, survey and questionnaire development, and basic quantitative data analysis.
Proficiency in qualitative research design, discussion and interview guide development, and qualitative data analysis.
Strong analytical skills and data literacy, including the ability to assess analytical approaches, datasets, and outputs.
Familiarity with data analysis tools such as SPSS or R (preferred).
Comfort with spreadsheets and experience extracting insights and backing them up with data.
Data visualization skills to communicate findings effectively.
Demonstrated experience translating data into stories and actionable insights.
Excellent communication skills—equally comfortable discussing technical aspects with researchers and explaining results clearly to non-technical audiences.
Qualifications and Attributes
Strategic thinking with an interest in politics, the environment, the economy, and other relevant topics.
Fluency in English.
Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field
