Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Director of Institutional Giving Manager to lead and expand Our Common Home’s portfolio of foundation funders across Europe, the U.S., and beyond. This is a senior-facing role focused on managing and growing large, complex institutional grants and building durable, multi-year partnerships with major foundations that support the organisation’s long-term growth.
This role focuses on strategic donor cultivation, renewal, and acquisition, with an emphasis on building long-term, values-aligned partnerships that support our mission and growth.
This is a senior-facing role responsible for managing and deepening institutional partnerships, stewarding relationships through compelling communication, consistent engagement, and high-quality reporting. The role involves growing our pipeline of institutional donors—especially beyond traditional climate philanthropy—and serving as a trusted partner to senior leaders within funder organizations.
The Institutional Giving Manager will also act as a key internal resource, advising and supporting teams across the organization in navigating funding opportunities, shaping proposals, and ensuring alignment with our mission and values. While the primary focus is on private foundations, this role may also support the exploration of public and corporate funding opportunities.
Fundraising Objectives
Our Common Home’s fundraising strategy includes three key objectives for this role:
Offer exceptional stewardship to our founding funders
Maintain relationships with current and emerging institutional funders at a level commensurate with their giving
Support country-level fundraising in the interest of fostering in-country credibility and local legitimacy
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Fundraising
Develop and lead a proactive institutional fundraising strategy targeting foundation funders in Europe and the U.S.
Identify, cultivate, and solicit new funding prospects across sectors and regions, including senior-level engagement with funder leadership.
Lead the creation of high-quality proposals, pitch materials, and grant reports in coordination with the global team, country leadership, MEL, and finance teams.
Design and implement donor stewardship strategies to renew funding and deepen long-term institutional relationships.
Internal Collaboration & Capacity Building
Partner with country teams and program leads to shape funding proposals and assess alignment with institutional donor interests.
Serve as a knowledge hub on institutional funder priorities, trends, and best practices.
Oversee coordination for key senior-level donor engagements and relationship management.
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in institutional fundraising, with a strong track record of securing and managing multi-year grants, including large, complex institutional awards and long-term foundation relationships.
Proven success in building and sustaining senior-level relationships with foundation, corporate, or public funders.
Strong prospecting and strategy development capabilities; able to access and grow funding beyond traditional networks.
Demonstrated ability to write persuasive proposals, reports, and donor materials.
Knowledge of emerging or non-traditional climate funders (e.g. in health, democracy, education, or development) is a strong asset.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with experience coordinating across teams and time zones.
Collaborative, diplomatic, and proactive communicator with strong relationship-building skills.
Experience working in multi-country or international nonprofit settings is preferred.
Fluency in English is required; additional European languages are a plus.
